Haikyuu Season 4 (To The Top) Part 2: Best Volleyball Anime

Haikyuu is a Japanese word that stands for volleyball. So as you can see, the name ‘Haikyuu!!’ befits the name of the anime, which is one of the most popular sports anime about volleyball. Haikyu!! is a Japanese shōnenmanga series written and illustrated by Haruichi Furudate. The manga got its anime television series by Production I.G. And, now we are all eagerly waiting for Season 4 (To The Top) Part 2. As per the rumours, it is said that the inspiration for Haiykuu Characters comes from real players.

Season 1 of anime, first aired from April 2014 to September 2014, with 25 episodes. The second season broadcasted from October 2015 to March 2016, with 25 episodes. And a third season aired from October 2016 to December 2016, consisting of 10 episodes. Haikyuu Season 4 (To The Top) was announced during the Jump Festa ’19 and was scheduled to release in two cours, the first cour of 13 episodes, which aired from January to April 2020, and the second cour of 12 episodes, which will premiere in October 2020.

Reasons to watch Haikyuu

Haikyuu!!, has a simple storyline, yet so elegantly put together. This anime has so much to offer. And if you need a morale boost, this anime might be a perfect fit. If you are into sports, you will get hyped, especially if you are a fan of volleyball.
The anime will get you motivated to do almost anything. Especially after watching Hinata Shouyou being relentlessly energetic with a burning hunger in his eyes to fly higher to reach his goals. When it comes to sports, this anime has everything to offer from team spirit to friendly rivalry to the sweet taste of victory and the frustration of losing a match. Even if you aren’t a sports fan, this anime would want to make you take up any sport, not just volleyball.

The anime has a very detailed illustration. And when you watch the anime, the matches are so explicitly vivid, that you will be glued to the screen. This anime is a feast for the eyes.

Haikyuu Plot

Spoiler alert, prepare to become well versed with volleyball terms even if you are a noob. Because when it comes down to the matches, the explanations are that detailed and easy to follow.
The journey begins with Hinata, a short middle schooler, who gained an unexpected passion for volleyball after watching a national championship match on Television. Hinta’s inspiration was the ace of Karasuno High’s Boys’ Volleyball Team, nicknamed as “The Tiny Giant” because of his short build but had incredible athletic skills. Motivated by “The Tiny Giant” athletic skills, he joined his school’s volleyball club, only to find he is the only one in the club.

The journey begins with Hinata, a short middle schooler, who gained an unexpected passion for volleyball after watching a national championship match on Television. Even though he ends up alone in the volleyball club. Being alone never fazes him out. He continues to practice by himself and with whoever he can find to practice with. And at the end of his final year of middle school, he even manages to win over a few of his schoolmates to participate in a real volleyball tournament.

Fatefully in the first match of the tournament, he faces off the championship favorite and its star player, Kageyama Tobio, called ‘The King Of The Court’. Though Shouyou’s team suffers a crushing defeat, he vows to become better and eventually surpass Kageyama.
Hinata starts high school at Karasuno high school, the same school as the tiny giant like he aspires to become. At Karasuno high school, he finds out that Kageyama has also joined the same school and, now they are teammates.

The storyline continues with the Hinata and Kageyama evolving as a team. And how they become an unstoppable duo. But the anime doesn’t only revolve around the duo. It’s very focused on the whole Karasuno high school volleyball team. And how all of them overcomes hurdles after hurdles to become a strong team. The anime managed to portray every characters growth. And also the bond everyone shares as teammates.The level of sportsmanship this anime depicts, you can’t even hate rival teams.

Haikyuu Characters

The main lineup of Karasuno High School Volleyball Team comprises of most important Haikyuu Characters. Each of them have unique personality and style that makes them likable and relatable from real life. As you progress the series you can’t stop admiring these Haiykuu Characters.
Haikyuu Charaters
  • Shōyō Hinata – The main protagonist of the Haikyū!! series by Haruichi Furudate. For the majority of the series, Hinata was a first-year student at Karasuno and one of the volleyball team’s middle blockers.
  • Tobio Kageyama – The deuteragonist of the Haikyū!! series. For the majority of the series, he was a first-year at Karasuno High School, playing as the starting setter for the boys’ volleyball club.
  • Daichi Sawamura – A third-year at Karasuno High School and the captain and a wing spiker in the boys’ volleyball club.
  • Kōshi Sugawara – A third-year at Karasuno High School, for the majority of the series, he was the vice-captain and substitute setter for the volleyball team.
  • Asahi Azumane – A third-year student at Karasuno High, he was one of the boy’s volleyball club’s wing spikers and its ace.
  • Kei Tsukishima – A first year at Karasuno High School, playing as a middle blocker on the volleyball team.
  • Tadashi Yamaguchi – A member of the Karasuno High Volleyball Club, serving as a pinch server.
  • Ryūnosuke Tanaka – A member of the Karasuno High volleyball team. For the majority of the series, he was a second-year student and a wing spiker on Karasuno’s team and its up-and-coming ace.
  • Yū Nishinoya – A second-year student at Karasuno High School. He served as the libero for the school’s volleyball team and was referred to by his teammates as “Karasuno’s Guardian Deity” for his remarkable skill.
  • Ittetsu Takeda – The faculty advisor of the Karasuno High’s volleyball club.
  • Kiyoko Shimizu – Previously a manager of the Karasuno High volleyball club.
  • Keishin Ukai – The current coach of Karasuno High boy’s volleyball club. He is also an alumnus and former player on the team, playing as a setter.
I could go on and on about this anime, cause it freaking gives me the thrills me every time I watch it. So if you need some motivation or want a good watch Haikyuu!! is a must-watch. And with Haikyuu Season 4 (To The Top) Part 2 airing on October, I can not contain my excitement.
