Comic-Con at Home 2020 Edition: Day 1

Who would have thought that the biggest event for movies and tv shows would now be held online! SDCC is known for Directors and Stars announcing their projects among the crowded cosplayers. But this year, due to the global pandemic, Organizers planned Comic-Con at Home, a virtual version of the event. The panels usually reveal long-awaited teasers, trailers, and news tidbits from the entertainment world.

1. The New Mutants

The New Mutants director Josh Boone along with stars Maisie Williams (Wolfsbane), Anya Taylor-Joy (Magik), Charlie Heaton (Cannonball), Alice Braga (Dr. Reyes), Blu Hunt (Mirage) and Henry Zaga (Sunspot) discussed their upcoming X-Men Spinoff film, including a new footage. The film arrives in theaters Aug 28.

2. Bill & Ted Face the Music

Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter set to reunite for Bill and Ted Face The Music, the third installment in Bill and Ted series, set to return almost after 30 years since the second film Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey. The film was supposed to release in theatres this summer but will now release on Video on demand on September 1, 2020.

3. UTOPIA (2020)

Amazon debuted the first trailer of its new series Utopia, starring John Cusack and Rainn Wilson, inspired by the British show of the same name, follows a group of Utopia comics fan who solves the hidden meanings inside the pages and discover that they can predict real-life disasters. The series comes from Gillian Flynn, best selling author of novels Gone Girl and Sharp Objects, the series premieres this fall on Amazon Prime Video.

4. The Boys (Season 2)

During Amazon Prime’s Panel, they also announced the renewal of Erick Kripke’s superhero show The Boys for Season 3 with new footage of Season 2, set to premiere on Sept 4. Eric Kripke along with stars Karl Urban, Antony Starr, and Erin Moriarty discussed their upcoming season 2 and how it will comment on real-world issues.

5. Truth Seekers (Season 1)

The first Truth Seekers Season 1 trailer is dropped, starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Paul, The World’s End). Also written by them along with Nat Saunders and James Serafinowicz, is about Gus and his team of paranormal investigators set out to catch a ghost on film, finding more supernatural occurrences and realizing something far sinister are behind these sightings. The series will arrive on Amazon Prime this fall.

6. Star Trek: Lower Decks

CBS All Access added a new chapter to the Star Trek franchise with the upcoming animated comedy Star Trek : Lower Decks, which premieres on the streaming service next month. The voice cast assembled with showrunner Mike McMahan to present the new clip from the animated series.

7. His Dark Materials (Season 2)

HBO’s fantasy series His Dark Materials, based on the novel of the same name returns for its second season with new cast members Andrew Scott, Pheobe Waller Bridge, Jade Anouka and Simone Kirby, along with returning casts Dafne Keen (Lyra), Ruth Wilson (Mrs. Coulter) and James McAvoy (Lord Asriel), season 2 will see Lyra discovering the multiverse and follows Lord Asriel to the world of unknown.
