Google pixel 4a is probably one of the most anticipated launches of 2020. Pixel 4a rumors and even a few hands-on clippings have been circulating all over the internet for months. Now that Google Pixel 4a has finally launched and it’s probably going to be the most value for money and impressive Pixel “a Series” phone that google has ever produced. Although now more than ever, it faces massive competition too in this price segment. Let’s take a look at the specs Pixel 4a has to offer.
Google Pixel 4a has finally launched
Over the last few years Google Pixels have become synonymous with incredible cameras. The latest Pixel holds up to that reputation. It packs a single 12.2-megapixel rear camera with f/1.7 Aperture & optical image stabilization & 8-megapixel selfie shooter with f/2.7 Aperture, but don’t let the number game fool you.
Although it does lack extra camera sensors like wide-angle, micro, depth, but those have become more of a marketing gimmick than utility. With Google’s immaculate image processing power, this mid-ranger produces snaps that can go head to head with the snaps taken with any $1000 flagship camera. Dynamic range, low light shots, color accuracy Pixel 4a handles everything like a champ just like it’s predecessors.
It packs Snapdragon 730G SoC that is a capable mid-range processor. Yes, it is a 4G variant never the less, it’s an upgrade over Pixel 3a’s Snapdragon 670 SoC. Google has also announced that it will be launching a 5G-enabled Pixel 4a variant along with Pixel 5 having 5G later this year, sadly which won’t be coming to India.
It flaunts a 5.81 inch 1080p OLED display, flat-screen with a hole-punch camera cut out at the top left corner that is less intrusive. With smaller bezels, Google has now managed to fit in a bigger screen than Pixel 3a in a smaller form factor. It has a 60Hz refresh rate screen.
The OS is the latest Android 10, and like any other Google phone, the Pixel 4a comes along with pure stock android experience, clean Pixel UI without any bloatware, and custom skins. Google has promised Pixel 4a will get the next three major Android updates for the next three years, along with monthly security patches.
Battery & Charging
The newest Pixel packs in 3140mAh battery & comes along with an 18-watt adapter. With Google’s clean UI and Snapdragon 730G’s 7nm fabrication that is relatively less power-hungry, the battery should be adequate for moderate use.
This time Google has launched only one storage variant, 6GB ram, and 128GB internal with UFS 2.1 storage type.
Look & Build
Google kept the look and feel very simple with a polycarbonate unibody design with a matte finish. It flaunts the light green signature Pixel power button that is very tactile, though it misses out on squeeze to summon google assistant feature this time. It retains the much appreciated 3.5mm headphone jack at the top and a stereo mono speaker at the bottom that is loud enough.
Pixel 4a teasingly flaunts the square camera housing at the back that only holds a single lens and flash. There is only one color variant this time that is a matte black that is disappointing.
Google’s unprecedented pricing is what turning heads this time. Pixel 4a launched at $349 in the US that translates into 26100 INR. However, we need to wait until Google reveals the Indian pricing later this year.
Google had to get the pricing and specs right this time because the mid-range segment, is having higher competition compared to previous years. Pixel 4a is up against Samsung A71, OnePlus Nord & iPhone SE 2020, that are aggressively priced to target the premium mid-range segment.
Google Pixel 4a Launch Date
The latest Pixel 4a will only be available in the US, UK, Ireland, Australia, Canada & Japan for the time being. Google has officially announced that Pixel 4a will be available in India from October this year. The price of Pixel 4a in India will be revealed closer to its launch in October 2020, when it will be available for purchase on Flipkart
